The Jabberwocky

 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogroves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
 
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought-
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood a while in thought.

I never loved a dear Gazelle-
Nor anything that cost me much;
High prices profit those who sell,
But why should
I be fond of such?\

To glad me with his soft black eye
My son comes trotting home form school;
He's had a fight but can't tell why-
He always
was a little fool!

But, when he came to know me well,
He kicked me out, her testy Sire:
And when I stained my hair, that Belle
Might note the change, and thus admire


And love me, it was sure to dye
